The Beast and the rain

The rage of the Beast was fierce as it always had been. Abandoned by the world and left alone in the wilderness the Beast spent its days in a dark cave hidden away from sight. Roars echoed through the stone tunnels as the Beast thrashed around his dwelling. The Beast slammed its powerful fists into a stone pillar smashing it to pieces and lashed out at the stone wall with its razor sharp claws, adding another set of marks to an already torn up wall.

The source of the rage was long forgotten and buried down into the creature’s soul. The words were lost but the gnawing pain remained. It ate at the Beast so feverously that anything could set the creature off into a frenzy.

Despite the loud roars and sound of crumbling stone, the faintest noise reached the Beast’s ear, the sound of rain. The Beast stopped terrorizing the cave walls and its eyes relaxed. Sadness washed over its face as it slowly walked toward the mouth of the cave. Its two hind legs made loud soft ‘pat pat’ noises against the stone floor.

Outside was a beautiful forest, rich green trees rising up ten feet or more from the soft soil. A winding river went through the forest like a snake adding the reflective touch of water to an already scenic landscape. This scenery was lost on the Beast most of the time. The Beast never came out of its cave during the day and it only surfaced at night to hunt. Large monsters rarely have patience to admire a tree. Day or night, when it rained, the Beast surfaced from the depths and stood in the mouth of it’s cave and it would stare at the rain.

The pouring rain added a different kind of beauty to the forest. Replacing the sparkling river waters and the illuminated green leaves with a calm cloudy sky and the gentle hush of raindrops. It was a mystery why The Beast changed its behavior when it rained, The Beast didn’t even know. It would stare puzzled up at the sky and watch rain fall from nowhere and little the landscape. The constant steady drum of raindrops hitting leaves was hypnotizing and The Beast fell into a trance.

In a daze The Beast sat down on the cold ground and put its hands over its face, its long clawed fingers stretching up over its head and its rounded snout sticking out from between its palms. As the fury and pain seemed to subside The Beast began to shrink. The horn ridges on its back slowly faded away and the thick dark gray fur began to recede back into The Beasts body. After several minutes The Beast had transformed into a man.

The Man had dark gray hair and a thin face with narrowed eyes and nose, like a wolf. He opened his eyes like he had just woken from a dream. As he looked himself over all the memories and deep buried feelings came rushing back. The questions that eluded the Beast were now all answered in the mind of the man. He knew everything that happened, why, when and how it all happened. He couldn’t stand it and began to sob. The rain poured down and drowned out the sounds of the man crying.

There was something about the rain that tied him to his humanity, a single piece that wasn’t corrupted by rage. The rain brought this out of The Beast and it would transform.. The Beast was its true form and the man was an echo of its past. A man so consumed with rage that he willingly became a beast to hide the pain away.

The day turned to night and the raining stopped. The man lay curled into a ball. He had a choice, every time it rained he had a chance to remember and to choose to stay with those memories as a human and every time he willed himself back into a Beast.

In the deep dark woods on a cloudy night a large Beast stalked the forest.

Tail of two cats

In the darkness of night two life forms were created. These beasts were born from the shadows and were created through their own sheer will. They were born because they willed themselves to be so. They started very small. The Shadow beasts looked like a small adorable ball of dark fur. One of the creatures was dark black with only the slightest of white markings. The other was black with other dark colors mixed in.

Into the night the creatures walked, their slow pace and tiny frame giving the illusion of innocence. These creatures were in fact adorable, but the mischief and evil intent could be seen in clearly in their bright yellow eyes.

The tiny beasts stalked the streets. They lived and thrived in the human world. These creatures weren’t friends nor were they enemies. They both preferred being dominate but respected the others strength enough to work together for a time. during one of their nightly walks in the town, humans came and caught the black and brown create and took her away. Being so small at the time, there was nothing either of these shadowy female creatures could do.

A year passed and the blackest of the two continued to live on the streets. She traveled among the local street cats for company and occasionally changed her form to look like them. One day a human truck rolled up and two humans got out. They had thick leather gloves and a cage. They came to wrangle the stray cats in the area. The darkest of shadow beasts had warmed up to the cats that kept her company. So as the humans approached. The beast charged forward as the alley cats slipped out behind a house.

A struggle ensued, but the beast still wasn’t big enough to fight. So she inevitably lost and was thrown in the cage.

The shadow beast woke up and was in a larger cage, in a building. Dogs, cats and other animals surrounded her. She was in an animal shelter. She roared in protest, but sadly she had spent too much time with cats and was still very small, so her roar was more of an adorable “mew”. This prompted a kindly human to come by and bring food.
It might have been confined but this wasn’t so bad having free food and a safe place to sleep.

Then one day a family arrived to adopt a cat. The shadowy monster did her best to look like a cat. She was smart enough to know this ‘adoption’ thing was her way out. Then once she was ‘adopted’ she could escape and travel back to her street.

From there she was ‘adopted’ and taken to the human home. She was given the name “Gali” and was treated very nicely. After some time had passed Gali had become used to the perks of being a house cat. She just had to keep her form stable and catlike. She would get massages, food, water and comfortable things to sleep on. Life was bliss.

As the years went on, she stayed in cat form for so long, she forgot how to change back to her neutral form. The only thing that changed was her eye color. Since color wasn’t a physical thing and she couldn’t reach the mirror, her eyes would change from bright yellow to bright green and anything in between. This changed happened depending on her mood. The humans never were suspicious but they were aware of it. Luckily humans are dumb and don’t believe that some cats and animals are actually shadow creatures brought into this world through sheer force of will.

Gali had many adventures during her time with the humans, but missed her rival at times. Little did she know that soon her shadowy sister would be coming over to stay.

Gunfight with the beast

It was pouring rain and the streets were empty. Then walking through the fog were two figures. The first one wore a black trench coat and hat with a red trim on his hat. The other wore a tan trench coat and hat with a blue trim on his hat. The two figures walked up the street with their heads down. Then strange shapes began twisting out from the shadows. The two figures pulled machine guns from their coats and opened fire on the shapes. Screeching and roars could be heard throughout the city. the twisted figure was revealed as a strange monster with blue skin and yellow eyes. Its scaly skin dripped with rain and blood from its bullet wounds. Its body was long and twisted like a snake, but had arms and legs and a face with human like features. It was the kind of hideous most people only saw in nightmares.

The two gunmen began strafing around the beast firing off shots as the monster spit acid from his mouth. The acid burned into the road and each hole quickly filled with water. Despite the gunfire and roars of a monster no one came to the scene, or maybe it was because of the gunfire and roars. The two men continued to shoot as they dodged the acid spit. The monster realized it was losing and charged for the man in red and black, the beast had its claws and fangs bared ready to strike. The two men focused fire on the creature but couldn’t stop it in time. The beast rammed into the man in the black coat, bit him and threw him against the side of a building.

“William!” Shouted the man in tan and blue. He ran over to check on William, worry gripping his face. “I’m ok, Alex” Said William standing up and brushing himself off. Two young teenagers walked home in the pouring rain. As they walked their imaginations went wild and pretty soon they were fighting a blue monster in the city streets. When the two walked home they jumped around and made machine gun noises as they pretended to shoot. Then William slipped and fell, hitting his back against a building. The two decided to stop playing and walk home quietly. They would be in enough trouble for staying out past 6pm and coming home in the rain, they didn’t need to be yelled at for their injuries too.

“So what happened to the monster?” Asked Alex. “We beat him of course!” Replied Will. “Well, maybe you died in the battle first, then I beat the monster, ya know for revenge” Added William. The two boys walked home and laughed as they did.
